CHOP Logo Design (2026)

ProCreate

Personal Commission Project

Designed a logo for CHOP (Columbia House of Prayer) which is a student-led Christian organization at Columbia University. CHOP is a space for prayer, worship, Bible study, fellowship, and many more and was commissioned to design a logo that would capture the organization’s mission for social media, merchandise, and future digital platforms.

This project began with a call with a co-founder of this organization and understand the organization’s values and goals as well as their vision for their logo. Early concepts explored multiple visual directions inspired by the word “CHOP”, including references to wood, axes, and cross symbol. Throughout the process, I created numerous drafts and variations, refining the concept through ongoing feedback and discussion with the organization.

The final design centers on a tree trunk, representing the word “CHOP” in a simple way as well as a cross rising from the center symbolizing faith as the core foundation of the organization. Inspired by Columbia University’s crown symbol, I added an element that reflects on the idea of laying down one’s crown, setting aside from competitiveness, achievements, titles, and pressures, focusing on worship, prayer and a personal relationship with God. The logo communicates CHOP as a place of surrender, reflection, and spiritual growth in the university environment.

The logo was designed considering on how it would look as social media profile image while also allowing for seamless application across merchandise, print materials, event branding, and future website design. Multiple logo variations and fonts were developed to provide flexibility for different uses to support the organization’s long term visual identity.
